Santo Domingo Book Fair - Dominican Republic

Jan will be taking part in a reading and live workshop at the 24th Annual Santo Domingo Book Fair in the Dominican Republic. She will be discussing the Spanish translation of The Fire Starters, Los Incendiarios (translated by Clara Ministral and published by Hoja de Lata). More Information below

The 24th International Book Fair Santo Domingo 2022 will be held in the Colonial City from April 23 to May 2. This year’s theme is “Come to the book”. It is dedicated to Dominican writers Carmen Natalia and Pedro Peix. The European Union is the special guest. Details:

– 70 guests from 15 countries, 12 Dominican authors from the diaspora, 100 international publishing imprints and 150 national writers.

– 85 new books and magazines, 15 belonging to Editora Nacional.

– 60 literary workshops for youngsters and adults, 30 children’s workshops, 50 training cycles and 50 conferences and lectures.

– European cinema billboard curated by the French Embassy and the Alianza Francesa.

– 1 inclusive pavilion for the visually impaired and 2 science fiction literature salons.

– 20 artistic activities linked to books and reading.

– 50 recitals and poetry readings, and 25 activities with storytellers.

– Participation of 30 theater companies, with 150 actors, in seven theaters.

– Performances, living statues, street theater and indoor theater.

– 1 comic pavilion integrated with the Trampolín Museum, with a children’s program.

– 1 business center, radio booth and podcast.

– Broadcast on television, radio, and the YouTube channel of the Ministry of Culture.

– Event free of plastic bags, as a contribution to the preservation of the environment.
